HISTORY BUENOS AIRES 2006-ARGENTINA

The VIII South American Games were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, between days 7 and 9 November 2006. In the capital were used 24 sports facilities, all donated by private clubs or by the governments of the city and federal levels. In the substation of Mar del Plata, 12 local competition more and various entertainment areas completed infrastructure for the event. In total, 15 countries participated: Netherlands Antilles, Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. Approximately 3 thousand athletes competed in 29 modalities: athletics, bocce, bowling, boxing, basketball, Regatta, biking, hipismo, fencing, water skiing, futsal, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, ice hockey, judo, karate, weightlifting, struggles, swimming, speed skating, ice-skating, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, sport shooting, archery, rowing, triathlon and sailing.
